Vastint Netherlands intends to demolish the existing and severely outdated office building at Hullenbergweg 1-3 and make space for Ruby Gardens. This redevelopment means that 14 Metasequoias and 3 Cercis must make way for the development of 20,000 m2 of high-quality office space, 10,000 m2 of residential accommodation (102 rented apartments), a basement car park of 5,000 m2 and public amenities on the ground floor.
A study into the feasibility of replanting the trees has shown that they are still in excellent condition and can be successfully replanted, so it has been decided to give these trees a new home. From the end of January the 14 Metasequoias will be given a new lease of life at Atlas ArenA Amsterdam and the 3 Cercis will be planted around the Tricity building. Both sites are very near the existing plot and are part of Vastint’s Dutch portfolio.
Through the circular use of the trees, Vastint Netherlands is laying the foundations for the vision of the future of Ruby Gardens. A development that puts sustainability front and centre in every decision, to create a community people will live and work in and be part of for many generations to come. Ruby Gardens is being built according to leading standards for sustainable building and will be one of the most environmentally friendly, energy-efficient and biodiverse developments in the district.
